During May 2010 we had two Team Buliding Days run by Rick Whitehead of Impetus Training;
Newquay Dental Centre – 26th May 2010 at the Fistral Blue Resteraunt, Newquay.
Tiverton and Cullompton dental centres– 27th May 2010 at the Fishermans Cott, Bickleigh.
The Group management team has always acknowledged the contribution of effective teamworking to both patient care and practice productivity and, reviewing our needs towards the end of last year, we recognised that we had two distinct areas of opportunity to develop teamworking even more:
We wanted to develop more of a ‘one practice’ culture between our Devon practices and to celebrate the first succesfull year of our Cornwall practice. It was a great opportunity to reward and recognise the efforts of the team and to welcome and intergrate new members and plan the future together.
The Devon Dental Centres team day was held on the Banks of theRiver Exe at the stunning Fisherman’s Cot Hotel, Bickleigh, and our Newquay Dental Centres day was held at Fistral Blue restaraunt, on the beautiful Fistral Beach in Newquay.
The day involved Lego, Scrabble, Completing 500 piece jigsaw, competing fiercly to find money in an out-door treasure hunt – oh and a trip to the moon!
Learning was made easier by a combination of all the tasks, though challenging, being stress-free and fun. We were taught the three main ingredients of teamwork – ‘share, care and communicate’, we all received a new insight into the nature, symptoms and benefits of teamworking in dental practice.
Huge amounts of fun and laughs were had by all and overall, it was a very productive and enjoyable way for dentists and Nurses alike to work together outside of the working environment.
